The reason to consider it is broader primary care
One Medical is worth comparing when weight management is one part of a larger health picture and you want a primary-care relationship rather than a storefront centered on one treatment. Its weight-loss service page describes nutrition counseling, exercise guidance, personalized plans, prescriptions and referrals when necessary. [1] I would evaluate it on the value of that broader conversation. Someone who already has effective primary care may not need another relationship just to obtain a prescription. Someone looking for a clinician who can place weight concerns beside other symptoms, medicines and goals may find the model more relevant than another narrowly focused online program.
A membership is not an all-inclusive treatment bill
The weight-loss page describes access and care features without establishing one complete price for a weight-management course. [1] Before joining, separate any membership charge from billable medical visits, laboratory work, referrals and prescriptions. Ask which insurer and payment arrangement applies to each part. The fact that an app offers convenient booking or virtual access does not mean every scheduled service is included in the membership. I would obtain a realistic estimate for the visits you expect to use, then add the proposed medication cost if one is prescribed. That gives a fairer comparison with a dedicated weight-care membership.
Prescription availability should remain a clinical decision
One Medical describes prescriptions when necessary and emphasizes that health assessment extends beyond a single weight or BMI number. [1] That is a useful starting expectation: an appointment is an opportunity for assessment, not a guarantee of the medicine a visitor has already chosen. Bring the goals and difficulties you want help with, including affordability, rather than treat the clinician as a final step in a purchase. Ask which option fits and what would happen if it is unsuitable. A broader primary-care setting is most valuable when it can change the plan in response to your needs, not merely reproduce an advertised product menu.
Convenient access and continuity are different benefits
The service page lists app-based appointment booking and prescription renewals, as well as twenty-four-hour video access for urgent needs. [1] Those are potentially helpful access features. They do not establish that the same clinician will handle every interaction or that urgent access substitutes for a planned weight-management review. Ask who takes responsibility for continuing treatment, how often a scheduled appointment is expected and which concerns belong in a different setting. Someone with a complicated medicine list may value continuity especially highly. The practical question is whether the available care arrangement delivers the relationship you want, rather than simply how many ways the app can open a conversation.
Referrals can be useful without being included care
One Medical includes referrals among the possible weight-management supports it describes. [1] A referral may be the right next step, but the specialist’s availability, coverage and cost are separate questions. The same applies to individual nutrition work or other services outside an ordinary appointment. Before choosing the practice because its service list looks comprehensive, find out what it directly provides and what it coordinates elsewhere. Coordination itself can be valuable; it should simply be priced and understood accurately. A person who wants a dedicated dietitian relationship may prefer a service that explicitly includes that contact, or use one alongside primary care with responsibilities agreed.

My verdict on the primary-care route
I would compare One Medical for someone who needs broader primary care and wants weight concerns handled within it, with clear expectations about visits and prescribing. I would not choose it solely because a familiar name appears near GLP-1 information. Obtain the current membership terms, visit coverage and medicine payment route, and compare the complete arrangement with the care you already have. If you need only a particular dispensing route, a manufacturer or pharmacy service addresses a different task. One Medical’s strongest case is the value of an ongoing primary-care relationship that earns its total cost, without a presumed prescription or bundled medicine price.
For one reason to consider goals beyond the scale, read weight and body-composition evidence.
Understanding the cost
No all-inclusive weight-care price established. Confirm current membership, insurance/billable visits, testing and prescription costs separately.
